Divorce and Custody

Jim Hownaniec

The breakup of a marriage, obviously, can be the most traumatic experience of your life. Custody, visitation, child support, alimony, and property division are some of the most difficult issues litigated in our court system today. We are sensitive to the personal pain involved in these cases, and work aggressively towards a successful resolution. We will be happy to sit down with you for a free initial consultation concerning the issues in your divorce or custody case.

A note about attorney’s fees in divorce and custody cases: Determining the amount of an attorney’s fee in a divorce or custody case can sometimes be difficult. Some cases are uncontested and require a minimal amount of work on the part of the lawyer. Other cases can be very complicated, and therefore require a large fee. Our typical fees for divorce and custody cases range between $1,000 and $2,500, depending on the complexity of the case. We typically charge a flat fee - we quote you the maximum amount you will pay - at the outset of the case. This is a practice we have followed for years and most clients seem to appreciate it. It gives you the peace of mind of knowing that your attorney’s fees will not exceed a certain amount. When going through a difficult custody or divorce case, you have more important things to worry about than what your lawyer is going to charge you for his services.
